Give a DIY Santa Boot for Christmas!

I had the joy of being a Santa elf for a Secret Santa blog tour last week. I pick the talented and creative Nancy from Artsy Chicks Rule. So I put on my little elf thinking cap. I needed something creative that fit Nancy's beautiful style. Something useful for the holidays. It needed to be a Christmas decoration. I wanted something I could add a little of me and and little of Nancy. Plus easy to ship.
In my mind, Santa has extra large big toes. So I started from there and made a Santa Boot Chalkboard.
Items for the cuff.
I started drawing a boot. I'm not an artist. I just kept scribbling until I got the shape I wanted.
Then I used carbon paper to transfer the boot to a piece of MDF {medium density fiberboard} it's great for chalkboards.
I clamped the MDF to my worktable and used a narrow blade in the jigsaw to cut out the boot.
Now to add a little of me and a little of Nancy to the cuff. I added pieces of trim and a spindle plus seashells and beading. This is the layout photo.
I painted the boot in chalkboard paint and the cuff white.
Then I glued on the cuff items using wood glue.
Here's the finished Santa boot chalkboard. I have a download of the boot shape it you would like to try your hand at jigsawing. It's an easy pattern.
