Glitter Deer Head Plaque Tutorial

For Christmas I love giving and receiving handmade gifts. They are so much more meaningful and you recall the memories of the person that gave it to you every time you look at it. This time of year things get pretty hectic so I wanted to make a gift that was cute but didn't take hours to make.
I got this wooden plaque and deer head at Michael's.
The first thing I did was stain the plaque with Minwax's Dark Walnut.
I then painted a light coat of Plaster Paint’s Ivory Lace over the stain so that you could still see some of the stain showing through.

Once that was dry I used Frog Tape in the chevron pattern and placed it across the plaque.

Next I painted over the top with Plaster Paint’s Native Stone.

I removed the tape while it was still wet and allowed it to dry.

I then lightly went over the entire piece with my sander to give it a distressed look.
Next I took Krylon’s Glitter Blast in Golden Glow and went over the deer head. I ended up having to go over it twice to give it the coverage I wanted.
I then used Gorilla Wood Glue to attach the deer head to the plaque.
I then glued on a little red glitter ball I had from another project for the nose.
