Today I’m sharing my "Baby It's Cold Outside" Snowy Mantel and I love the way it turned out. If you know me by now, you know I love twinkly lights and all things sparkly, and I wanted to do something different this year with our mantel. So I took everything off and I don’t know if you noticed but I turned those old windows (that I found for $2 each) around to the white side.
Knowing that we are on a very tight budget this winter season I tried to think of how I could create this theme with the least amount of money too. Challenge on.
The foam board cost $1 and I painted on it and gave it a chalky look with white paint. (I’ll show you how below).
So I pulled cedar greens from my tree out front and created the garland (which was free).
I pulled this shabby n chic white ornate chippy frame I had (I bought this years ago at a swap meet for $5 and I LOVE it and use it often. I wanted a chalk board look so on my trip to the Dollar Tree I bought the 3 Big Snowflakes and the chalk board like foam board for $1.
I hung one mason jar from wire and added one tiny snowflake and a votive candle. I also bought one pack of lights from Target for $2.99 to add to the garland.
I love our mantel and the wintery white snowy feeling mixed with the twinkly lights.
This is the view from our Dining Room and I work in here all the time so I get a beautiful view from here. If you want to see the Glittery Birdhouse Ornaments or the Burlap Poinsettia Flowers you can here too.
Here is what I started with....Dollar Store Chalkboard like foam Board, Styrofoam balls, Dollar Store Snowflakes both large and small and the Dollar Store Candle Holders I made. Full tutorial on the blog so come on over.
How to make a chalkboard like print with paint is on the blog and this cost $1 to make.
We are loving it at night while we sit and snuggle by the fire, play games, and watch tv or dine in our dining room. Mantel
