I grow my strawberries and other things in strawbales. Its called straw bale gardening.I will show you a picture . No digging, no weeding and very little in the way of preparing the bales to start you garden. Can be done on concrete as well as on grass or dirt.
    • This is an old picture but it looks the same each year.
I plant directly into the bale with the starts. There is a whole procedure to start this and if you really are interested let me know next spring and I will get you started.

Jan those strawberries look soooo juicy & sweet! I told my husband after all the flurry this spring/summer about straw bale gardening that WE were going to do that next year!!! Do you use the same bales over each year??

these look soooo delicious Jan! I'm seriously thinking of this for the Spring next year. Your Puggle is adorable. My daughter has one and she has loads of energy and is so strong! She's calmed down alot since she was a puppy but she really doesn't listen at all. How is Baxter? was he also high energy? I swear 'Wrinkles' has ADHD.

Hi. Jan: Sure here's the recipe: Strawberry Cream Cheese Pie

    1/4 cup of sugar

    16 oz. cream cheese

    8 oz of cool whip

    Graham cracker shell ...»

One pint of fresh strawberries(sliced) or frozen

    Small package of cut pecans

In a bowl combine sugar & cream cheese mix well

Mix in half of tub of cool whip & mix

    Pour into graham cracker shell

    Place one layer of strawberries

Pour the reminder of cool whip

    Add pecans on top

    Chill overnight

It's one of my family's favorite recipes. I usually do this for our Thanksgiving dinner.

Let me know how you like it. Enjoy!

You're welcome Ladies, yes this recipe is simple and you will love it.

Jan: Yes, I get that all the time, about the song Elvira by the Oak Ridge Boys. I don't mind at all. I also love the song. I was a senior in high school when the song came out and everyone would sing that song to me.. I felt special. LOL!

Yep, I have grown my strawberries in straw bales for the last 5 years. I get big ones every year. This year wasn't as prolific as the last years but still deliciously sweet.

Jan M lets c, who did I forget, if I did sorry, not meant to b....... This is so wonderful, wow have to find out how to do this....now for your strawberries, have u heard of the receipe 3-2-1, no bake strawberry short cake.....I will post it on my posts, u mix a cake mix (any kind) w/angel food cake mix......shake together.....store in a zip lock bag or bowl w/lid........will last forever in your pantry/cupboard......now, the 3-2-1 is this: 3 tablesp. of cake mix mixed, 2 tablesp. of water and last 1 min. in the microwave.......u bake it in a coffee cup, like the ones u get for advertisements, etc. u know the deeper ones.......I will post pics too ........stir w/fork and place in microwave for 1 min., take out and use a knife to go around the inside of the cup to loosen it.....then just tip it over and it comes out in the bowl, looks like a cake, etc. and simple and pefect for all u campers too.....u can use two if one does not make u full but do it separate......I never buy the strawberry cakes for shortcake any more!!!! Can u imagine using a gingerbread mix with the angel food cake, then pouring lemon sauce over it, use blueberries, etc. on and on.....hope u enjoy and watch for my post!!!!!!

Remember always use one Angel Food cake. But remember that the Angel Food has eggs whites in it. So this cake cannot be served to anyone allergic to egg whites.
