Before & After | Mid Century Modern Credenza Refresh

I love a good mid century piece, especially the credenzas because they can serve so many purposes! I picked this piece up off of craigslist and while it was it pretty good condition, the wood finish was tired. So, I got out all my tools and supplies and got to work!
I began by wet sanding the piece and then refreshing the wood with some dark stain. If you want to read how I stained the piece without stripping it, follow the link at the end of the post.
It only took 1 coat to give the wood a rich look. I did try staining the top as well, but it was in worse condition with scratches and missing veneer on the corners. I also think the stain didn't take as well because it had been oiled or clean with a pledge type product. So, I primed and painted the top glossy white for contrast.
Once dry the whole piece was sealed in high performance poly. The white top is gloss, and the stained parts in satin.
