Valerie H I just saw the pics of your rug, I think it's really lovely, and the pillows you chose are perfect with it! -
Very nice Karen! Looks great! -
The pops of red look great in the room! We just painted our bathroom "Grey Squirrel".. not my 1st choice but I was pleasantly surprised how nice it turned out. Much like your space, sometimes grey is just right. -
I have summer pillows and winter pillows. So during the summer, it's a sisal rug and navy/yellow pillows. Winter is persian rug with navy/plum/moroccan type pillows. What kind of rug do you have in your living room? -
Thanks Jason! -
Karen - The Graphics Fairy - The Tea & Vinegar was introduced here on HT. Remember back on Facebook I told you there were tons of ideas on here!! Basically you cut pieces of 0000 steel wool and put it in a jar, pour white vinegar over it and let it age 24 hrs. In the meantime you brew a cup of tea - any brand will work. Then you paint a piece of unfinished wood w/the tea solution & let it dry. Then after the vinegar has ...» -
Hamtil Construction, Yes, I love the soothing quality of a good gray. I'm glad your bathroom turned out so well! -
Valerie H Oh, great idea! I have a sisal in there right now. It would be nice to have something warmer for the Winter though. -
Karen - The Graphics Fairy Your room reminds me of the classic "Domino" magazine shoot of Jenna Lyons apt. (the creative director of J Crew): http://theitgirlproject.com/wp-content/uplo... -
Wow, thank you Valerie!! I loved that magazine, so sad to see it go. -
Have you seen the seasonal issues that they have been putting out. The first one was spring, and there should still be a summer issue out. Fall issue is coming soon. I don't think there is a way to subscribe, however. Yet! -
I didn't realize they were still doing that! I saw the first issue and I thought it was just a one time thing. Thanks so much for telling me Valerie, I will look for them. Yay! -
Karen - The Graphics Fairy - I'm glad I got a notification on this post so I could find it again. I was thinking about you the other night and I realized when I mentioned something about FB that I had gotten you confused w/Gypsey Barn so if you are wondering why you can't remember our comments thats why. You're not the crasy one!! LOL -
Susan S No problem! Oddly enough, I someone missed that last comment from you completely, so I'm glad you pointed it out! I really appreciate the tip about the vinegar and tea! -
Karen - The Graphics Fairy - LOL. Yeah, some things just slide right by us! The tea/vinegar thing is really interesting, fun and soooo easy!! It's amazing how it turns the wood that beautiful color. I posted my board when I did it. If you click on my profile pic you can probably find it. -
I just looked at your blog, Karen - The Graphics Fairy , and believe it or not, my husband and I have a secretary almost identical to yours. It belonged in his mother's family, and even though it no longer goes with our beach decor (too dark and heavy) it is a family heirloom! -
Susan S Yes, I saw it. It looks great! I'm going to have to give that a try for sure! -
Valerie H Oh, that's funny! I don't think I've ever seen another one like it. Do you have a photo of it? I know from experience, that it can be a struggle to work those treasured family pieces in to your design scheme. I could never paint them or sell them though, so I always find a way to work them in. -
Love the pop of color against the gray and white. Gorgeous!
-
Thanks Shannon!! -
Your living room is absolutely stunning and I just love the color combinations! :-) -
At The Picket Fence Thank you so much!! -
Woah - what a transformation. I love the two occasional chairs, and that horse wall art is adorable! Mind if I ask where you got it? And those walls in charcoal...oh, be still my heart. What a bold touch. Fabulous job! -
Thank you so much Kristen @ The Modage Cottage !! The Horse Art came from my space at Lucketts (near Leesburg) , which I no longer have, now that I blog full time. The vendor is Peacock Park, you might be able to find someone near you that carries their line, since they only sell wholesale. All their stuff is great, I have a giveaway on my blog right now, with another piece from Peacock Park, so you might want to check it out! -
Karen, I'm a couple of hours from Lucketts and have been before - love it! The design house in particular is so incredibly inspiring. I've never heard of Peacock Park but am now quite the fan - and yes, I most definitely entered your giveaway :) Thanks!
