I have had a pitcher plant for years. The only time that I have had it to bloom was the first year that I planted it. I have moved it to another house and its yard and this year is the worse ever. First of all, it like to have never come up this year and when it did, it has just set there with a few leaves on it. It gets the morning sun. I cannot get it to bloom and it has such a luscious smell. I have seen these plants mostly the color of mine which is yellow. I love the peach colored one. I fertilized it and add more fertilizer and it just will not respond. I first caught sight of this when I was living at my mother's home. Our neighbor had one sitting in the full sun but shade quickly rested it. It got only the midday sun. It faced west with lots of foliage to cover it by 2 p.m. so two hours of direct sunlight was what hers had. I found out that her's was in a pot and she took it to her basement covered up thru the winter and then brought it out. I have seen these things bloom in just about every place of someone's yard. I do not know what I am doing wrong. Any suggestions, please email me to elicestill@gmail.com.. thank you.

Yes. Brugmansia and datura are close cousins of jimson, otherwise known as loco weed. It's hallucinogenic. Can cause convulsion, coma and death. Not just to humans but has long been known as toxic to cattle and horses.
