Crossette turns into a Rosette with Carved Acanthus Center
by

Every once in a while you run into an architectural detail that, even as an experienced carpenter, you have never seen before. Some doors and windows have Rosettes at the corners and some have Crossettes (small projections of the head casing beyond the casing legs), but this is a Crossette than turns in on itself in a "square spiral" that resembles a rosette. It also has carved acanthus leaves at the center. I would love to recreate this sometime.

Z on Nov 04, 2012Sheila you may have hit the nail on the head. We're not retired, but we plan on this being our last home which is why we are going the extra mile with it's finishing touches. Granted nothing as beautiful as the above since we are novice woodworkers at best, but it's not basic trim either.
