My little potted garden

Deven
by Deven
I started my potted garden the Spring of 2012 and it has blossomed to more than just pots! I will add more pictures of my potted garden soon.
Newly planted lavender and flowers.
Cilantro, basil and mint. the cilantro died because I didn't prune it enough and the mint overtook the planter so I replanted it in it's own pot and the basil as well. They are both still thriving!

Looking good, Deven. Your losing your cilantro probably had nothing to do with pruning. It's very hard to keep cilantro going in the heat of summer because it's a plant that likes cool, moist temperatures. When things heat up, it "bolts," flowering and setting seeds quickly, which is a survival mechanism for the plant. You will have the best luck with cilantro by planting in the spring and in the fall, and mulching the soil to help keep it cool. It is the ground temperature, rather than the air temperature, that sends the plant the signal to produce seed.

Thank you so much for that explanation, Douglas! I will have to try it again this spring. I also read that it needs to be trimmed more than others. I will post more pictures from the plants :) The basil and mint are much larger now.
