Yvonne Day Aka Miss Ruby on Jan 26, 2015Spar varnish is what I would use. It is for boats and other water items so this stuff is worth it. Make sure you get the feet really well.Helpful Reply

Susan on Jan 26, 2015@ Follow sealant instructions and wrap it up tilted for the winter with a camping tarp over it and you could place it on cement patio bricks so it won't touch the ground. If that doesn't work go buy yourself something more convenient for all year use lolHelpful Reply

Gail Salminen on Jan 26, 2015@Joan McAllister did you want a wood finish or paint? May have an impact on what you use. Regardless I would recommend outdoor finishes and to use an outdoor polyurethane on it - about 3 or 4 coats. That should help protect for some time. May want to polyurethane every couple of years.Helpful Reply

Joan McAllister on Jan 26, 2015I was going to paint it a color and then seal it. I have a large back porch, 40' x 20' and wicker, three pieces new black and two antique white, two outdoor rugs and thought I would make a dining area on one side. Have a round side table in dark royal blue with flowers from my garden painted on it and sealed.Helpful Reply
