Woodbridge Environmental Tiptophouse.com on Jan 28, 2015Dike pliers or diagonals are what most pros use. Even using cutting pliers designed for tile cutting works well. Specialty pliers that just pull nails can be quite expensive and really are only worth it if your pulling a lot out. Another tool called a cats claw is also used.Helpful Reply

Ulf Virtanen on Jan 28, 2015I think what your looking for is farrier nail nippers. For really big nails without heads i recommend you attach lock pliers to the nail then remove with a hammer or crowbar. always remember to protect the wood with a piece of scrapwood!Helpful Reply

Carmie on Jan 29, 2015It looks like a wire cutter,I use a tack puller for small headed nails and for the larger headed nails a little crow bar. Both work well.Helpful Reply

Swan Road Designs on Jan 29, 2015A tool like this: http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=https://img0.etsystatic.com/054/0/10412293/il_340x270.715888850_495g.jpg&imgrefurl=https://www.etsy.com/uk/market/nail_puller&h=270&w=340&tbnid=QkGqTuERPR01AM:&zoom=1&docid=SbErhkdKaJNM7M&ei=KlrKVMiOBcWcyATU74JA&tbm=isch&ved=0CCUQMygdMB04yAE is what I used to use. The jaws of the device dig on the sides of what's left of the nail head, then the leg or protrusion allows you to brace the tool against the wood or area in which the nail is buried. Using a lever motion, pushing against the protrusion gives you enough force to pull the nail out.Helpful Reply
