My cat uses the legs of my table for a scratching post. Need to redo and make sure she doesn't go there again.

Might be a dumb question because I'm sure you have a vertical scratching pad/post. Think I read about pet repellent sprays. My daughter trains her cats not to scratch furniture, fabrics or go on the counters by spraying them with water. Of course, you have to catch them in the act., You could also grease the furniture legs with something distasteful to cats. When they clean their paws, it might persuade them not to repeat..

I HAVE VERTICAL AND HORIZONTAL SCRATCHING POSTS ALL OVER THE HOUSE AND A FLOOR TO CEILING CAT TREE. GIVES THEM A "LEGAL" SCRATCHING AREA.

I wish I knew how you could repair the legs, but as far as a deterrent, I wrap or tape foil on things the cat wants to scratch, and he won't touch it. After the foil has been on the item for a couple of days, I remove it, and my cat stays away from it afterward. I think claws in foil is like when you bite on a piece of foil -- it feels like a small jolt of electricity. It doesn't hurt that my cat freaks out every time I pull foil off the roll. This may be of help to you, once you solve the scratches issue.

Just redid chair legs that a puppy used a a chew toy....filled in with wood putty . I did one thin coat, let it dry then went over it with a coat of putty thinned with water, makes a smoother finish. Lightly sand then stained with matching stain. Final coat of poly....looks great.
