I have an outdoor loveseat and chair group that had faded worn cushions. I wanted to reuse them so with the help of alot of new friends on this site, I found fabric paint. This is the before and after. It was a lot of work, and my first time using fabric paint, alot harder than I realized, (due to arthritis in my hands lol) but I saved a couple of hundred dollars and I am satisfied. (May have to go back over them at a later date.) This paint works well, but you have to be sure you go really dark on darker material. I used camel brown and it turned the cushions a dark red/brown, which turned out well, these cushions had been worn from the sun and my four-legged son, Jake.
Before
Sun faded, of course Jake took buttons off. All the cushions were still firm and pretty good condition.
After
It turned them a brick red, which I like. But darker colors are harder to cover. The paint says that once you read the directions.I bought 6 cans of camel brown paint. The cans themselves are (8oz's). You must put newspaper down, and when spraying the paint you have to leave in an upright position, so you can't lay the cushions flat on the floor, you have to have them upright. When spraying the nozzle has to be pulled all the back or it clogs and causes drips on the fabric. I painted each side of the pillow once and each of the edges once, and let it dry. My painting probably wasn't as even as it could have been, but this was the first time i used it, and the nozzle hurt my hand after a while. It tells you to spray the first coat then to let it sit and dry for about 20 minutes, then apply and spray a second coat. Next time I will buy more paint, as it takes quite alot to cover stains etc. But all in all I will buy again. It did save me money.

Hi Gena. I have the same problem with my hands. A few years ago as I was cruising the paint dept. I spotted the best tool and on the cheap. They have a handle that you can attach to a spray can...problem solved. I'm sure any of the big box stores will have them. I redid a bunch of plastic chairs with no aches or pains in my hands. Hope this helps.
