Help! We need kitchen paint color

Mary
by Mary
My husband will be painting our kitchen this weekend. I need to have a color picked out by then. I was all set on sw softer tan until I painted a little patch on my wall. It looked horrible! Too light and not warm at all. I am looking for a nice warm light brown neutral with little undertones. He does like to use Behr paints I know you can color match but I would prefer to find a color in the Behr line. I always get great suggestions here.

There is one choice for us.. and this summer I want to do our kitchen too. Yellow is the sunniest, brightest , happy color I can think of. IF you really want the tan shades you can always get a good shade and do coffee type of designs.. or country style or decals or sayings.. recipe names.. the possibilities are endless. Good luck my dear and post pictures

Olympic Diamond Mine and Olympic Drifting Dune from Lowes. You can color match and you can see both colors here, to see if you like them: http://aimee-weaver.blogspot.com/2010/05/nursery-reveal.html I used them in my main bedroom and both are slightly more towards brown but still, fantastic neutrals.

@Mary it would be easier to advise you if you posted pics of your kitchen, as the advice might change depending on the cabinets, number of windows, backsplash, flooring etc. Behr has a sight with all of their colours there http://www.behr.com/consumer_ca/colors/paint# I like Trish's suggestion of yellow - many tones available and would keep the area bright.

Tell the sales person that you want a warm tan or beige. It will have more yellow in it usually. Go look in the Behr paint section at the warmer hues and take a few home to try in your lighting.

Mary, picking paint is a nightmare and I'm an artist. It always looks different on the wall. If you would like to post a photo with lots of wall space I will add some color to it and give you a total look before you even go to the paint store.

@Mary I noticed that your counters are a mix of black and grey - perhaps the brown tones are not the best choices. I hate to open pandora's box, but perhaps you should explore other colours. The suggestion of a soft yellow and maybe even a soft sage would be good to explore. I hate to open pandora's box but you could explore other options as well. Behr has examples of rooms in different shades - here is one for yellow - http://www.behr.com/consumer/inspiration/interior/photo-galleries/colors/yellow Sea foam green looked light and airy. You have a tight space, so I would recommend staying on the lighter side of any hue you choose. Good luck.

I found what I believe is a perfect shade! Behr Warm Carmel. I have it in our current living room and hall. When we move later this year that shade is going with us! I'll be using it with off-white or cream wainescoat.

I found a colour I love ! It's called oatmeal ,probably the best neutral I have ever used because no matter what other colours I put with it , in different rooms of my home , it is like a chameleon ! It shifts colour and pulls whatever you put next to it .

How about a greige color....painted the walls in our bathroom with the oak woodwork and closets and it looks very nice. It looks grey is some light and beige in another....nice and clean looking. I use white or pink or beige with it. I can't see what color your counter top is.

Ok went to hd today and got some color cards. Riviera Beach, Perfect Taupe and Mushroom Bisque, Could not find Chamois Tan card. Anyone have any experience or used any of these colors? Any undertones? Please post pics if you have any. I have a lot of oak cabinetry in my kitchen which color if any would look best.

What color are your cabinets and floor and appliances? All the new grays have undertones of greens, tans etc. Grey is the new beige and goes with almost any color accents. Be nice if you had stainless steel appliances.
