Home Renovation Calculators are great tools to help create a budget for your home renovation project. The most popular home renovation calculators give you a cost estimate for renovating a kitchen, bathroom or home additions like master suites and 2nd story additions. If you are thinking about remodeling or renovating your home your first step is not to call a contractor or an architect. Your first step is to use an online renovation calculator to create a budget and start looking for design ideas from websites like houzz and pinterest
The best online home renovation calculators are free, consider your homes location, how much work your will do yourself and the quality of finish you want in your remodel or home addition. These are 3 of the most important variables and any renovation calculator estimate that does not include these variables won’t be of much value. Home location impacts the cost of labor ranging from as little as $25 an hour to well over $100 an hour in some areas. While you will likely not be paying hourly for your home renovation but will pay a fixed price – the fixed price quote you get from your contractor is based on this location based hourly rate. Since home renovation costs are often about 50% labor – you can see that your location can influence the price of your project by 30% or more. How much of the work you will do yourself drives the total cost as well and should be considered by the renovation calculator estimate.
You can choose to do the design, the general contracting or any of the trades- the more you do the less you have to pay others to get the job done. Finally the quality of the finish has a big impact on the total cost of remodeling for your project. Floors can cost $5 to $25 per square foot installed, cabinets, faucets, lighting everything that is used to finish your home has a similar variation in price. The structural elements and rough plumbing and electrical vary little in comparison for most remodeling projects. Concrete ranges just 10 or 20% across the country, the same can be said for lumber, drywall, insulation and other basic construction items.

Jay Taylor on Apr 13, 2015It is very helpful tool for those people who doesn't have much time to meet with remodeling agencies or architecture. Just select themes and get your estimated budget online. But it may fluctuate with real scenarios.
