Do you know of a homemade solution to killing weeds - that Works! I have been pouring straight ammonia on them which works but, I know it is not good for me.

Vinegar kills the plant, but not the root. It will continue to grow and once again become your favorite weed! I suggest foregoing home remedies and use a 2 4 D product.

I use pickling salt on our crushed granite patio, but only use if you want nothing to grow in that place. Cheap and non-toxic and works like nothing else I've tried. Once a season does it. I water it down to the roots if there is no rain in the forecast.

I usually pour lots of salt on the weeds, seems to work, plus my cats are safe in the garden.

DADDY'SWEED KILLER RECIPE 1empty spray bottle 1/2cup liquid dish soap (Dawn is best) 1gallon white vinegar 1/4cup salt Thenthere is this one, but thinking this is a slow motion one - WEEDKILLER Bakingsoda neutralizes the ph in the soil and nothing will grow there. use bakingsoda around all of the edges of flower beds to keep the grass and weeds fromgrowing into beds. Just sprinkle it onto the soil so that it covers it lightly.Do this twice a year - spring and fall. Awesome!

Here in FL, there are some weeds that do not respond to any weed killers. I find that I have to do it the old fashioned way and dig out the roots. I have a tool with a long wooden handle and the metal part on the end looks like 2 fork times, but bigger. I can even use it standing up, not the easiest way, but works. Hope you find something better.
