For those of you with deer issues, two of my favorite bulbs (all Narcissus- daffodils) and summer snowflake- Leucojum aestivum- will grow in moist soils or those that are well drained.
Hardy Zone 4-8, with daffodils hardiness depends on the type of daffodil.

Belle, since I am also now in Zone 9 but suffer from the dreaded gardener's disease of Zonal Denial, I called Brent and Becky's and they actually put me on the phone with Brent, which impressed me to no end. He suggested trying varieties from the Tazetta class of narcissus and trying to plant them where there is not irrigation, since daffodils like it dry in the summer when they are dormant. (Although I have them in a mixed border in New York and they certainly are not dry in the summer there.) So of course I have to give it a shot. https://store.brentandbeckysbulbs.com/spring/genus.php?genusid=44&division=D8
