We are finally giving in to our major crush on industrial decor, so we tackled our family room for the April Room Challenge. To start, we had to address a HUGE blank wall in our family room, and I DIY'd our own Paris Map Art...by tile printing the image on my inkjet printer at home.
We tile printed a map on our home computer. When pieced together, my art would be 72" x 56".
Love yellowing paint and scuffed walls? Then this is the room for you (BEFORE) - and yes, my kids chuck their laundry over the railing. Fancy setup, huh?

We didn't want anything dramatic, just subtle changes and enhancements to the wall, so we added wall trim + decorated with more industrial touches to embrace this look more fully.
We chose to display the map as a "tiled" image. So we cut MDF, then stained the exposed edges with Rustoleum Varathane Dark Walnut. Ryobi Power Tools cut the MDF like it was butter.

I have a similar set-up, and I chunk my laundry baskets over the rail, too, and I am far from being a kid! I really like your design; does Paris have a particular meaning to your family?

@Carol Tanner Me too! I didn't know there were so many of us "kids" out there ;-}. It's much easier than carrying them down stairs and the older I get the better "easier" is for me.

This is much better than the inspiration piece. I give you some major kudos because this is simply spectacular. Amazing job!!
