From Totally [not so] Groovy to Totally GiRly!

Wildflowers & Pistols
by Wildflowers & Pistols
This dresser started out as super dated.. I mean, it had red velvet on the middle drawers... That might have been totally groovy in the 70's but not so much today. ;) The chunky details and hefty size of this piece was just screaming to be made bold and fun!
First, I removed the middle drawers. The bottom drawer was pretty messed up and even after trying to fix it I still couldn't get it to shut. That was okay though because I knew I could make it look better without the dated middle drawers.
I built 3 cubbies in place of the old drawers. It's already looking better without that red velvet! ;)
I added trim to the newly built cubbies to finish them off. I spray painted them black so when I sanded after adding the paint you would see dark underneath just like on the rest of the piece.
I used Wildflowers & Pistols Milk Paint using the milk paint base mixed with a pink acrylic paint to paint the top, bottom and the 'base' part of the drawers. www.wildflowersandpistols.com
For the cubbies I added floral detailing using mod podge and wrapping paper!
Then I painted all the detailing a white using Wildflowers & Pistols Milk Paint in Priscilla. www.wildflowersandpistols.com I also added the floral wrapping paper to the sides of the dresser using mod podge.
Here she is! BOLD and FUN! Just like I wanted!!
I LOVE the floral!! Before I sealed the floral paper I distressed it using a fine grit sand paper. Then I sealed it with a couple coats of mod podge.
These floral cubbies are SO much better than those not so groovy, red velvet drawers!
I think the floral wrapping paper works so well with the pink and white!
This dresser went from being super dated to SUPER fun and cute! The little girl in me LOVES this dresser!!! :)
