KMS Woodworks on Oct 23, 2011I would go with the turquoise and gold red theme. One of my favorite color combinations is what I call a Turquoise and Salmon Sunset. The deep blue of the sky mixed with a sunset washed cloud bankHelpful Reply

Angela M on Oct 23, 2011I love the style of the bench, you are right, it is a great bench! Maybe painting black over it as you said, then the turquoise over that and distress so you will have the black/turquoise com thru at different places. or vice versa turquoise on bottome/black on top and distress. :)Helpful Reply

Yamini LEED AP at Urbanmotifs on Oct 23, 2011I would either go solid black with distress or a gold with distress. I think these are the 2 colors that will fall in place in your home.Helpful Reply

Anne W on Oct 23, 2011You can paint the bench a black and then distress it allowing some of the turquoise to come through. It would compliment your current decor. Black will anchor the room and goes with everything.Helpful Reply

Jan B on Oct 23, 2011Hi Marjori, I, too, like the turquoise! It pops with the strong red and gold nearby. If it were my bench I would sand the purple areas then paint a flat brown primer similar to the stained wood color. Over top of that I'd paint the turquoise in a bit of a dry brush technique (or as heavy as you like). Give it 24 hours, then come back with fine/med grit sandpaper to 'age' the piece. Seal with flat polycrylic product. Good luck! It's a great piece.Helpful Reply

Jan B on Oct 23, 2011Marjori, our perfect weather is almost here! Hooray! Great outdoor-furniture- refinishing weather. I hope you'll post an after pic of your bench. Btw, I liked Anne's idea too. If I had YOUR bench in MY home, I would do exactly that. Please share your results!Helpful Reply

Martha Hinkle on Aug 14, 2014My vote would be matte black and then use pillows with other colors in the room for accents. You can change the look by changing the pillows. If you paint it an actual color then your stuck with that color until you paint it again. Black goes with everything.Helpful Reply

Mcgypsy9 on Aug 23, 2014I really like the black idea but I am thinking maybe black chalkboard paint. I was also thinking of maybe a dark blue with the turquoise and possibly orange. I can see that you have a lot of color in the home already. That is a georgeous piece by the way!!Helpful Reply
