How do I get wax out of clothes?

I spilled hot fragrance wax with some oil that goes in tea light burners on my good shirt. Is there a way to get it out?

To get the wax out you can re warm it. Try placing paper towels over the wax to absorb it once it is liquid again then warm it with a hair dryer. The oil maybe a problem as the heat may set it. You can also try freezing it and try and crack the wax out of the shirt. Good luck.

First try cracking off any of the dried wax that you can. Chilling it may help, but in all cases this will only remove the thickest pieces. Then cover your ironing board with a thick layer of newspaper. Over this put a couple of layers of paper towels. Position the stained area of the shirt on top of this and cover with a couple more paper towels. Use an iron to heat the stain. You will have to change the paper towels several times, but it should get 95% of the wax out. Dry cleaning will remove the rest and may even deal with any oil staining. If an oil stain remains, you may be out of luck, but I've had some success with straight Dawn dish soap as a pre-treat to washing.

Use the newspaper/iron method to get most of the wax out (a hair dryer doesn't get hot enough), but you will still have a greasy looking stain on your shirt. The best way to get rid of that is to take it to the dry cleaner's. Hopefully, that will do it. Back in the day, I did batik clothing and this is what I did to get the wax out.
