25% off the already smokin' low prices. Today I lucked out....bought a fab mid-century danish bedroom set for under $100 bucks. Bed, low boy, high boy and 2 end tables....it needs refinishing but that's the fun part. Any period accurate color/process suggestions for finishing?

If you don't want to strip it to bare wood, a cousin in the antique business told me to take hand cleaner with steel wool to remove built up gunk. It cleans it up really well and still leaves the look of the original finish. Best, CP

I don't remember danish modern furniture ever being stained a dark color...most pieces were light maple-ish. A good cleaning should be your first step.

It sounds like you got a great buy! Refinishing the furniture sounds like a lot of work. Good luck to you!

@Karen, I agree most mid-century pieces are lighter in color. This is black with a greenish tint. The finish is also shinny...Odd. But I'll get it looking good. I love to refinish. I've done quite a few pieces - this is my biggest challenge so far. I'll post pictures later today after I get hubby to unload the truck.

My parents still have the mid century furniture we grew up with - love the lines. All stained dark and beautiful. What an awesome score for you!
