Kitchen Island Re-do/Question

Some of you may be familiar with tin tiles. We're considering doing this look for a kitchen island, but I'm stuck on what color to use. I'm leaning toward a simple design for the tiles, but nothing is set in stone. If you have a moment, please check out the post for more pics. I would love opinions!

I think if you decide to go with the tin tiles, you should keep it really simple, like maybe the "hammered" tiles you mention on your blog. Otherwise, I think it will look too busy and overwhelming.
