Ikea Pax Hack: Wardrobe for Closet Organization and Space
You know the gorgeous closets with bi-fold doors? Yeah, we didn't like that look so much, especially in a space with 2 girls and not a ton of room. We decided to use our go-to for hacks. IKEA! We can't wait to show you how we transformed the closet space!
Our video tutorial shows you this project from beginning to end, showing you how to build your own closet space. And, head over to the blog post at Remodelaholic.com to get more details!
The built-ins in the old closet were a little awkward. In order to fit our pax wardrobe pieces in, we demoed the closet, including shelves, rods, doors, and trim.
Since we wanted 4 units, we widened the opening by removing studs and headers (only because it wasn't a load-bearing wall).
If you are not afraid of some assembly, Ikea products are perfect. They are durable and easy to assemble. With two of us working on these wardrobes, they were ready in just a short time. We enlisted the help of our girls as well.
With the wardrobes assembled, we slid them into place and centered them. After some small adjustments, we were ready to add drawers and rods.
Before hanging the doors (or you might choose to leave the space open, but we wanted to control the clutter), trim out the opening with mdf. Caulk and paint.
Drumroll...the closet space AFTER!! It is so much more functional and our girls each have their own space. We hope you gained some inspiration from this project!
