Here is how I turned this inexpensive tv stand I got on Facebook Marketplace and a comforter into an adorable window seat that my pups love and looks great!

Here it is finished and making my dogs happy

Here is the tv stand I picked up. I chose this one because the measurements fit my window, which will give it more of a "built-in" look.

Step 1: Get a piece of OSB board (Home Depot will even cut it for you!) cut the exact size of the bench surface area.

Step 2: Get a piece of foam in what ever thickness you like, I went 1.5 inches, and glue it with wood glue to the OSB board.

Step 3: Cut a comforter with a few inches on each side of the OSB board. I liked using a comforter, it was cheaper than buying batting and upholstery fabric!

Step 4: Use an upholstery stapler to secure the comforter to the board. Try to get it as tight as you can!

Step 5: Secure the bench to the board with screws.

Step 6: Let your pups enjoy their new view!

Looks nice but my only question is how to wash the quilt once it gets dirty from the dogs since it is stapled on

  • Pat Pat on Jan 25, 2024

    How do you clean it?

Great idea but my question is the same. How do you clean it? I would have used batting and vinyl covering which is wipeable or as some suggest make yours removable so it can be cleaned. It will definitely get dirty and smelly at some point.

No the Dogs could have looked out the window anyway. It will get dirty quickly

I think I would pick a darker color that’s more dogproof and zipper or Velcro the cover so it can easily be taken off to wash. Or not put a cover at all because of the dogs.

    great project
