DIY Macrame Christmas Wreath Ornament
‘Tis the season to be knotty! This Christmas craft will surely get you into the holiday spirit this year, especially if you are dreaming of all the cozy boho winter vibes. Once you create one of these ornaments, you will knot be able to stop! They are knot only perfect as Christmas tree decorations, but also make for adorable handmade gifts to your loved ones. Instead of hanging these on your tree, you could also remove the baker’s twine and use them as napkin ring holders to dress up your dining table.
Finished Dimensions:
- Length: 2.5”; Width: 2.5”
Supplies:
- Macrame cord: 1 x 7ft ivory 2mm 3ply
- Baker’s twine: 1 x 10” red and white 2mm
- Hot glue gun and glue stick
- Unfinished pine wooden ring (dimensions 2.5” x 2.5”)
- Metal berry picks x 4
- Mini pinecone x 1
- Natural dried laguras x 1
- Yarn needle
- Scissors
Macrame Christmas Wreath Ornament
Fold over one end of the macrame cord 6” in length and place it infront of the wood ring. (A)
attach to the wooden ring with a lark’s head knot (B)
With the longer working strand, continue tying lark’s head knots all around the ring. (C-J)
Secure the ornament by tying a double knot with both working strands. (K-N)
Trim the excess working strands and apply a small amount of hot glue to reinforce the knot. To conceal the area of the double knot one at a time secure the berry picks to the ornament. Since the berry picks are made of metal, they can easily attach to the ornament by twisting. (O-R)
Hot glue the natural dried lagurus to the immediate right-hand side of the berry picks. (S)
Hot glue the mini pinecone directly on top of the lagurus towards the bottom end. (T)
With the baker’s twine, use the yarn needle to pull the twine midway through the top of the ornament. (U-V)
Approximately 1.5’ from the top of the ornament, tie an overhand knot to secure the twine and trim the excess. (W)
