How to Make Cute Yarn Christmas Tree Cushion Covers
What I love about Christmas is that I get to try all my creative ideas that I have been waiting to make for a year.
I try and make something every single day in the run-up to the holiday. Each year the decor and things at home are different. Every corner of my home looks Christmassy.
Today's project was a bit taxing but I loved making it and it looks super cute. I used colored yarn to craft Christmas tree cushion covers:
Tools and materials:
- Plain cushion cover
- Yarn
- Popsicle sticks
- Craft knife
- Glue
1. Outline the Christmas trees
Take any plain cushion cover and outline some template of trees. I drew 5 trees of different sizes.
2. Wind the yarn
Take a popsicle stick and wind the yarn around as per the length of the tree.
3. Glue the base to the cushion cover
Apply glue on the base and stick it to the cushion cover.
4. Cut the top
Cut the top with a craft knife and remove the popsicle stick. This is how it looks.
Repeat this process until you finish the whole tree.
5. Repeat for the other Christmas trees
Now I have taken a broader/jumbo popsicle stick so my tree branches look longer. Wind the wool around and this time when sticking, move the popsicle forward and stick.
The yarn falls flat and looks longer in length due to the broader popsicle stick, which gives a different effect.
Repeat the same steps. Leave a little space between while sticking the next row, so that the yarn will fall flat to create that look.
Use different colors for the trees. You can also stick the yarn very close to each other to create a dense look, or flat look, etc. Be creative and make any pattern you like.
