  • How beautiful is this finished Pallet wood coverd coffee table.
  • Had this scratched up coffee table for years...Yes, I have a big dog. It needed a fix , and fast.
  • Here's what it looks like after a heavy sanding. Almost there, but not quite yet.
  • The old weathered pallet wood is almost the same color as my sanded down table top.....only prettier.
  • I used a brad gun with 2 inch nails to attach all my wood strips.
  • I mixed a couple colors of craft paint with some water.
  • I used my washed down craft paint to make all my freshly cut edges to look weathered...but not new.
  • I love how all the holes from the pallet nails line up on the new table.

Updating an Old Coffee Table With Pallet Wood

If I could throw things away, this project never would have happened. I had the very weathered coffee table with deep nasty scratches. I sanded it down as far as I could, but it was still ...»
too weathered. I had a pile of weathered pallet wood that fit the top of my table almost perfectly. I attached the wood with brads and hid my freshly cut edges with watered down craft paint.

Much better now...it looks "intentionally" weathered

  • Pallet board towel holder.
  • Scrap pieces of pallet boards.
  • Glass door knobs
  • I put the boards together in a staggered pattern. Drilled holes for the bolts and then aged the wood even more with a homemade wood stain.
  • Spray painted the bolts and hardware on the door knob to match.
  • I used metal stencils for the towel sign.
  • My little helper Boo Boo checking out the progress.

Pallet Board Towel Holder

Towel holder made from pieces of pallet boards, glass door knobs, bolts and screws. These pieces of wood were leftover from other projects and I found the old door knobs on ebay. Put them all together to make this shabby towel holder.

I used a homemade stain recipe that I found online. It was 1 cup apple cider vinegar, steel ...»
wool and a tea bag. I let it steep for 48 hours before I brushed it on the wood. I let it dry completely and then sealed it with a clear sealant spray. It still has a slight vinegar smell, but that should fade soon.

My Flood Experience... hoping you don't need to use it.

Several years ago, the area I lived in received 17 inches of rain in 24 hours and the knee deep trout stream near my house turned into a monster. We were woken by my golden retriever in ...»
the middle of the night as trees crashed down around us. We had made no preparations. I heard the roar of a waterfall as it cascaded into my basement. First I hurriedly ran all our camping gear upstairs (cook stove, lantern, etc.), then valuables were cleared from the first floor. After just 20 minutes it became eerily quiet... the basement was full... no more roar of water. I was about out of time. Anything remaining on the first floor was stacked on countertops and tables. Next, I ran outside and tied up the boat, it was already floating away, and we might need it to escape later. I wore a rock climbing harness to do this safely in the waist deep moving water. After the flood there was mud everywhere. The remnants of an old deck was left in my yard by the flood. I salvaged the old decking and used it to make a temporary side walk to keep us out of the mud as we cleaned up. I got old fire hose the fire department had culled out for free and screwed it to the boards... so in my case we really could roll up the sidewalk at night. I later made several more of these walkways, using pallet grade white oak. This was published as a tip for staying clean at muddy construction sites, but it was inspired by disaster: http://www.finehomebuilding.com/how-to/tips/...

A little walkway out of pallet boards

This quick little project really couldn't be easier! Reclaimed pallet boards were used to create a new walkway through a flower bed. The planks make it an absolute dream to weed by simply ...»
lifting the applicable board, and are just high enough to clear any water run off. And yes, they are staying in place and have shown no rot in over 3 years thus far.

Pallet wall, trim and Autumn decor

My favorite trash to treasure project of the year goes to the pallet wall. Even though the wall was completed a few months ago I still can't get over how beautiful trash can truly be.

My husband and I dismantled 7-8 pallets to complete the wall and attached the pallet boards using screws from Home Depot. We used various widths, lengths, and colors of wood slats to create a somewhat colorful wooden wall.

  • The fence is almost finished.
  • Here is a picture taken from my bench at the back of the garden looking towards the arbor. The fence is complete. Now on to making the garden look pretty. This will take awhile. 1
