Question on bed sheets

How does one tell which end of the shet to make up the bed with. Does the sheet grain go horizontal or vertical. I just can't figure out how to to tell which part of a fitted sheet is the longest. Anyone have this problem? How can I solve it?

Sheets are rectangular although with king size ones it can be hard to tell. Usually, the grain goes up and down, from the foot to the head.

I don't know if this is standard with all sheets but generally I find there is a manufacturer's tag sewn into one inside corner of the fitted bottom sheet. I have a king sized bed and, more often than not, it seems that when that tag is placed on the upper left corner of the mattress or the bottom right corner (when standing at the foot of the bed), the sheet fits correctly. When I'm putting clean sheets on the bed, I just rotate the sheet until I find the tag and make the tag/upper left corner my starting point.

I truly never thought about this before. I just rotate the fitted sheet until it fits.

@Sia@South 47th LMAO! That's what I do.. I get irritated and keep rotating until it makes sense! You could make the correct corner with a colored sharpie.

@Marlena What a GREAT idea, using the sharpie!! Or even maybe sewing a little loop or doodad or small button into the head part, that's inconspicuous.!!

I just dont feel like rotating and rotating each time I am changing the beds. Got to be an easy answer. I wonder if any manufacturers would chime in?

Like Shari, I use the tag to always go on a top corner or bottom corner. This issue used to drive me nuts!

Thanks, I will give that a try.

I "measure" by holding end up right in front of my nose, extending arm straight out to the side. Measure how many of these I have, rotate once, measure again. Simple and you don't have to try to put the sheet on and pull off over and over again. Very irritating, especially if bed is up against a wall!

@Linda, before I figured out the tag thing I used to angle fold mine like you did with paper in art class when you needed to make a square. This easily tells you which side is the longest though I have to admit it's harder when the sheets have elastic all the way around. So glad I figured the Tag thing out. Makes it a snap!

Yeah my sheets have elastic all the way around but I will try to tag thing.

I rotate my bottom sheet to even the wear so the sheet will last longer. If you continually use the same way you put it on the bed every time then you will have certain spots that will wear more and the sheets last less as long.

Tag thing didnt work. I think they must just be made wrong.

"Comfy-Snug" drawstring fitted sheets have the cord lock at the side so there's no wondering. These sheets stay putbetter than any other sheet with no need for suspenders or clips. They aretight and smooth all the time and self adjust to the mattress thickness. Thereis nothing more comfortable that nice smooth sheets. It's like the first timegetting in bed with new sheets. You just slide right in. Drawstring sheets giveyou that just made feeling night after night. www.drawstringsheet.com
