Help Me Pick the Color of My Barn Entry Doors

Barn progress is being made, folks. I will share more about painting the windows soon. For now, let’s just sigh together as we look at the progress. It’s a beautiful thing.
We've painted the siding, built the windows before painting and installing and now we're working on doors and the back deck.
Check out the before and after photos below. (As a reminder, this barn is 100+ years old and moved from it's original home before rebuilding.)
I'm also struggling to decide on a door color. I usually steer from white, but what do you think is the best choice?

that actually looks like a fun project.. for the door I would go with a real dark shade of the siding.
  • My first thought was the white.....but then I think the contrast of the white window frames and the black of the "Behr Broadway" would work really well. What colour are you doing the barn doors? It's going to look amazing no matter what colour you make it.

@Heather (New House New Home) Thanks! We're actually going to do a barn-style door in white and red. So, the more I thought about it, the more I think it's a better idea to do the garage door first and then decide on the others. I was getting ahead of myself.

I like the blue/starless night, but the white would probably be more pleasing to the eye.

I will always be a red and white girl....just love the contrast and it looks so clean

I know color is fun, but in this case a crisp, fresh coat of white is the winner in my book.Especially after you get the red and white barn door up! Great project!!!

i also wanted the white, but let's be real. It's an active door to a barn. This will be kicked, shoved against and bumped. So i'd pick the darkest grey and save the white for around the windows and barn doors... It's the best looking barn and thank you for saving it.....

@Lynn Zawojski Such a good point, Lynn. It will definitely be well-used, so a darker color is probably a safer bet. (Need I have to tell you that it's still not painted. This winter is KILLING me.)

The Broadway color is my choice for all the doors and frames of windows. The mullins on the windows should stay white for the contrast and think you would have a very distinctive look.

    Starless Night!

I like the color "Starless Night". There's something so classic & timeless about the trio of red, navy & white! White is great but very impractical for a much-used barn door & grey is trendy right now but I don't think it suits your fabulous red barn. Hang a traditional large (undecorated) grapevine wreath above the garage door OR a smaller (undecorated) wreath above the barn door. I sure wish it was mine!

I agree with chris. Much more classy looking with the broadway. .
