Chalk paint is the new fad. It's easy to apply with very little preparation to the item you want to paint. It has a flat/matte finish which can be sealed with wax, clear or tinted. You can make your own chalk paint with plaster or paris and it will go a long way. Have fun. Best of luck.

ok
Yes, chalk paint is different than chalk board paint. Chalk paint does not require prep work before you paint; that is why it is popular. It drys to a "chalky" finish. Then you buff with wax to get a sheen and smooth finish. Annie Sloan Chalk Paint is the most popular, however there are other products out there. You can make your own chalk paint by mixing plaster of paris in regular paint.
