Choose a lighter version of your color
I would make them a great color blend
I'm reading your question as...you want to change the color of paint in your kitchen so as to get rid of that burnt color and want the new color to flow into the room next to your hitchen! Do you want to keep the paint color on the walls in the adjoining room? The first thing I would do is find out the procedures needed to ready your kitchen walls like cleaning them and even maybe having to put a product on called Kilz. I would talk to a paint expert like at Sherman's Paint Store, Lowes or Home Depot. Make sure the person you talk to has been in the biz for a good period of time and up to date with the new trends. They should be able to show you what colors will open up your space and flow into the adjoining room. I'm sorry I can't suggest paint colors not knowing all the conditions. I hope this info will lead you to what you want and enjoy the space you live in. ๐ค
Like Julie M. is asking, do you have photos showing the two rooms or give us the color of the second room so we have more information.
Try using textiles in that same colour to "marry" the two rooms...I have an open concept and used the dominant colours in my kitchen in the adjoining great room in pillows and throws and area rug as the accent colour. It created a cohesiveness!
My problem is I have a half wall on both sides of the entry to the kitchen and I don't know where to start or stop the kitchen color from the living room color. Do I paint the top of the half walls and up the side the color of the kitchen, or do I leave the top of the half walls the color of the living room?
That's where I need to blend. My kitchen is now burnt sienna and my living room is a golden color.
