Hello Valoop; If I were decorating your Family room, I would go to Ace Hardware, Home Depot, Etc.

Please pick out any paint chips that you are remotely interested in.

Please then look at the paint chips in Sunlight and artificial light.

From here, decide what colors you Love and Enjoy.

You will have them in your home, so Please choose what you like.

The colors that you have sound nice and bright.

I think from what you have posted, that deep Blue or a paler Orange would be Lovely.

I hope that this helps you!!! I am sure that your new Family room will turn out just as you hope, and that it will be Perfect!!!

    Take Care!

paint chips are tiny, and may have faded from the lights on the display. get your self a qt. of the color you like and make an extra large paint chip on foam core board. move it around the room that you"r painting. lighting also makes a difference.

Sounds like your going for a 70s vibe, here is some reference pics.... https://www.google.com/search?q=pictures+of+70s+living+rooms&client=opera&hs=ZC6&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiVoprIubfVAhXEw1QKHVCECe4Q7AkIRA&biw=1366&bih=629

Personally I would do white maybe with an accent wall. I do see a few rooms with pale grey that is in right now. Bold bright art was big back then as was graphic wall paper or paint treatments for an accent.

A lighter shade of blue, with a bold side ways strip of one of the other colors make a big statement, then you can pick up your other colors with a pin stripe along the slanted stripe. that painters tape can help and allow you to play around with the shape and design you like best. Get paint chips carry a cushion from your sofa with you when your looking at colors. Pillows could be the green color with accents of the blue and orange. If the rug is to big to take to match up, get some pillows or fabric that match close, Try stripes or large bold print fabric. What are your plans for window treatment, you may want to keep it simple or use one of the bright colors. Sounds exciting, have fun and think

    bold with those colors.

i would lean toward a lighter shade of blue. Blue and orange are opposites on the color wheel which mean they accent each other well. Try staying close to the same tone of blue just lighten it up some.
