You use a coffee table, end table or a small chest.. Often thrift stores will have tv stands for as little as $3
Good Afternoon Mulligg :) I saw an ingenius idea! And although at the time it cost the guy about $25 to make, you could probably cut that down significantly if you can get your hands on one or two HT (heat treated) pallets. Then you would only have to pay for the hardware:

However, this old flower child still believes in cinder blocks and pallet wood to make beautiful shelving (which you can get free many places, or for very little money. Just make sure that the pallet wood is stamped HT or has no stamp at all (meaning it was produced in America without treating it with harmful chemicals). If there is a stamp on it (even HT) it means that it is imported wood, and the HT is the only safe imported pallet wood. AND you don't have to spend money to paint it. It's perfectly functional being bare LOL
Go to a thrift store, Salvation Army, or Goodwill. You might find an end table that will work just as well as making one.
Check out the furniture sections at Goodwill or Salvation Army or other donation centers. Sometimes you can get lucky!
I too would go thrift shopping, some are cheaper than others like the Human Society thrift store, Habitat for Humanity Restore and Goodwill prices are the best, A coffee table is good, a sofa table the best, even an old TV stand, or a small cabinet, large bedside table. You can also wait to the night before trash day and go curb surfing, I frequently find bedside tables and small dresser drawers on the curb. Older neighborhoods are better.

Utube has tons of ways to use pallets to make a TV stand. Most of the time you can get pallets free from craigslist in your area.
