Color combinations

We live in an old farm house which allows us to chose how we want to use our rooms. We are moving our formal dining room and it's place putting a sitting room which will be open to an eat in kitchen. We will be using brown upholstered furniture in the sitting room - the dilemma I have is what color to paint my kitchen cabinets so all the colors tie in together . I cannot paint them white as they will get dirty too fast. I was thinking of using one of the blues found in some if the mason jars I use to decorate the top if the cabinets. All suggestions are welcome:) this is what I have now with the kitchen, will be changing curtains and border course :).

The surface of your cabinet doors look flat and they would be easy to paint. Investigate amyhowardathome.com and check out her chalk paint colors. One quart goes a long way so don't be put off by that. You wouldn't need a primer but would use two/three coats of paint to cover that green. If you want a vintage look, use a different color as the first coat. I love her product so much that I just became a retailer in Connecticut. If you want to talk about chalk painting, I'm happy to help. Just send me an email at kate@kpatine.com. This look will be wonderful in an old farmhouse. Also go to Pinerest and search painted furniture. Also google chalk painted kitchens and see what pops up. Best, Kate

I think keeping with the farmhouse feel I would paint a light teal or silvery mint. It would def brighten up the room. Do a quick search for painted cabinets and get idea of what colors you like on cabinets! If you are daring go for an antique red!

I am seeing a warm, light brown/dark beige, such as a mushroom, and dropcloth on the windows. Are you repainting the kitchen to match the sitting room? Fawn, would be nice for both.

I always think of Butter Cream Yellow when I think of a farm house with the Antique Red of course. You always need a POP of Red somewhere in your color pallet.

Hello Cindy, I think a light blue or teal would be absolutely beautiful with white mounding . Check out some kitchens on the Houzz app or Pinterest . Have fun!!
