Hi Laura, Peg board is commonly used to hang items. You can purchase hooks that fit in the peg board holes. And you hang items on these hooks. Men use them in garage to hang tools, paint brushes, etc., Crafters use it to hang spools of ribbon, tools, and even baskets. Peg board is handy to have when you want to organize. I hope these ideas help you.
An area inside a pantry great to put some up and use for hanging frying pans, pots, grill spatulas (etc) and tons of other stuff. There's ALL KINDS of hooks and hangers available. Needs to be spaced away from the wall enough to attach hooks properly. Frame the edges for extra support and a finished look
My kitchen is 9 x 9.5' and the previous owner installed pegboard on which I hang all of the pots, skillets and lids I use most frequently. When kitchen was renovated a few yrs. ago, contractor put framing around it to make it look like a picture frame, and I love it. Nowhere else to put my cooking utensils, even with renovation. Don't have enough footage between my house and my neighbor's lot line to put addition, and exit from basement is right under the back door to kitchen so we could not put an addition there either without a great deal of expense. Believe it or not, after 40 yrs. I have gotten used to working in a small space and have hosted parties for up to 100 people from this kitchen. During recent renovation I did have a bar/half-dishwasher installed because I got sick of washing dishes by hand all the time. Love it!
Forgot to mention that there is pegboard on the landing going down to my basement on which I hang mops, brooms, dustpans, feather dusters and other household cleaning stuff.
