Hi Saras,
I'm assuming that your cabinets are melamine or some kind of plastic finish. Your first step would be to remove the doors, and hardware, then use a degreaser to thoroughly clean your cabinets. Then you'll need to remove some of the glossiness. You can do that with a light sandpaper. You just want to do enough so that the paint will stick. Next use a tack cloth to get all the dust off of your cabinets. You are now ready to use a good bonding primer and I'd recommend 2 coats, letting it dry in between. Once your primer is dried, it's time to paint. Again I recommend 2 coats. After your paint has dried, I'd suggest adding a coat of non-yellowing poly to give it a protective finish. Talk to the people at your hardware store to explore the best products to use. Wishing you the best.
what are they made of so the proper solution can be given
we moved into a new pace with those crappy wood look cupboards. I redid them in a soft blue, it was valspar cabinet paint, made for cabinets, it looks great and holds up well too, we love ours! --the prep was easy, there was a chemical you wiped it all down with, paint then gloss. tada! (excuse the baby in the photo, this was the only one i had)
