You can add sand or tiny little balls that are foam to the paint we have done both all depends on the look you are after next I plan to go bigger not sure what we want but thinking.
You could add plaster to the paint depending on what look you want you keep adding. I have done this in my living room walls and it has lasted many years. I did mine heavy. But it can get mess when applied so cover everything up including you. Good luck
