we are going to replace all the gold fixtures in bathroom & the vanity is in good shape but the top looks worn

I refinished a vanity once (with paint) that was supposed to be good to use. It didn’t hold up. Just turned weird.. I’d just use new fixtures or replace the top. maybe there’s better products out there that Work better.
