Add some wood moldings to finish the look. Once all painted will be timeless. A link attached with an example. Check houzz and pinterest for more examples. Good luck

Glad to hear. Maybe add flourscent light trim to your search you might find something unique. Try houzz also. Hope this helps

Paint the plywood boards light sky blue, after you get some really nice trims around the opening. Make it look like it's intentional. If that particular flourescent light isn't crucial, you could take it down, patch, (or & do twins) & add a string of tiny lights within the opening.
All the benefit of the skylight, none of the heat and leaks.

Talavera tile patterns would be gorgeous. You can find tons of them on Pinterest.

Buy faux tin ceiling tiles, I think they come in 2' x 4' sheets that can be easily trimmed, also different colours, some come plain and can be painted. Good luck, have fun and let us know what you do.

There are some beautiful small and large scale stencils out there in the style you are considering. Would love to see the after! :)

Yes, I will post pics after, might be a little bit, a lot going on, but I'm ready to get it done!
  • You can paint the details in faux tin ceiling tiles to mimic talavera tiles. Use a white base/background to keep it light and match the remainder of the ceiling, then use the traditional talavera blue and other bright colors to trace along the tile detail lines in paint.

Simplest is to use prepasted wall paper. Find you favorite print and just follow directions. Wall paper sticks very well to wood. Easy to change out as well.
