One of the best reasons I've found to use chalk paint is that it eliminates or cuts down on the need for prep ( sanding etc.)before painting.
cuts down the prep time and it dries super fast. You're not waiting 24 hours to apply that second coat which is really nice.
This chart compares chalk paint and milk paint. I find it helpful to determine the difference. I hope it might be helpful.
