How about using them for temporary wine bottle corks after opening and not drinking all the wine? They are beautiful and should be happy to be used. You might have to wrap some cork around them to make them fit. You can get sheets of cork at the craft store.
Put them in candle holders instead of candles. No light, but a striking statement
