One thing that worked for us was to get samples of paint colours you're interested in and paint swatches of Butcher Paper, tape them up with masking tape and see how the color plays our during different times of the day with natural lighting and and how it looks with your lighting. Home stores or the Paint stores may also carry blank Tiles that are like 'Post-it' Notes, and you can paint those...
Warm colors include in the red family, red, orange, yellow and browns. They as their name states, give you a sense of warmth and coziness. They can, however, make your room too dark, if you're not careful. Keep the tones lighter on your walls, and add a cool color for accents in your pillows or throw rugs and other accessories. (Look up the color wheel on the internet and go to the opposite side of the wheel from your warm colors for an accent.)
