How to remove paint from rock or brick?

I have a rock fireplace the a previous owner painted the rock. It’s awful. I would like to have the natural beauty of the rock.

Hi. If the rock was sealed before the paint was put on, an acid wash may remove the paint. Otherwise the paint has been absorbed by the rock and removing it will be nearly impossible. Seek out a professional for an evaluation of what to do. Good luck.
