Hi Priscilla. This job is all about the tool you use to create a look of wood grain. Begin by applying the paint on the garage door and then immediately go thru the paint with the wood graining tool. Do one strip at a time so that the paint doesn't have time to dry. Afterwards be sure to seal your work. It may take 8 or 10 coats of sealer. I would love to do this same job on my garage door too. p.s. You can spray paint your hardware rather than buying it all new.
