Funnygirl on Oct 09, 2014Love your window. If you have blank walls,I would go with a mural. Then I would hang with a ledge on the bottom, securing the top also.I would then treat it as a window and hang curtains and valance to really make it look like a real window.Helpful Reply

AvonelleRed on Oct 09, 2014I would use an actual mirror, and just put clear shelf paper on the BACK of the mirror. That way, it's still going to hold together in case of an earthquake, but you still will have a lovely real mirror. There is glass in the window, right? If so, keep the glass in there, and just place it in front of the mirror to give it a little depth. If you then do as Funnygirl suggested, and get some curtains to hang on each side with a valance, then put a lamp nearby to reflect the light, it should look pretty great.Helpful Reply

Jen R on Oct 09, 2014I created a board collecting ideas for old windows, some suggestions: http://www.hometalk.com/b/1731029/decor-ideas-old-window. I decided to paint on mine, like the sun post. (I need to get it up on a post!) I think it would make an awesome table, if you need a large table in your home. I think a mural or mirrors are great ideas. Mirrors would help in a smaller room.Helpful Reply

Angie Forte on Oct 09, 2014Karin, a mirror would be beautiful behind it but I understand the risk with earthquakes. How about using plexiglass and Krylon's Looking Glass spray paint. Even doing the mercury glass (or antique mirror) method would be gorgeous without the risk of breaking.Helpful Reply
