Z on Nov 09, 2012Have you tried contacting Rustoleum directly Steve? If the primer isn't made by them then I'd contact the maker of the primer too. I know I've seen years ago when all this first came out someone on HGTV do a magnetic chalkboard painted wall.Helpful Reply

Z on Nov 09, 2012I did a bit of research for you and what I found is in the last paragraph of this link.... http://www.rustoleum.com/CBGCorporate.asp?sn=pr&PrId=16 It's talking about their brush/roll on chalkboard paint over their magnetic primer though. You may have to go that route if you want both. I'd still try and contact them if you really want to use the spray paint.Helpful Reply

3po3 on Nov 09, 2012Kevin, that's a great idea. I might make him an easel with a magnetic white board side. Is there a way to buy sheet metal and get it cut to fit for this purpose? Becky, thanks so much for the suggestion and the link. I was looking up exactly thCommentat information on the rustoleum site and couldn't find it. Magnetic primer, here I come.Helpful Reply

Z on Nov 09, 2012You're welcome Steve. I picked up an old flat panel ended baby crib awhile back that I want to make into a two sided easel. Now I too know how to make it magnetic and writable too. I'd love to try the whiteboard paint, but it's expensive! We already have three 2 x 3 foot white boards from when they first came out so I really don't need them.Helpful Reply

Woodbridge Environmental Tiptophouse.com on Nov 09, 2012Any AC duct shop will sell you sheet metal at a fair price. Ask them to Hem over the edges so they are not sharp. Unless of course your setting the metal in a picture frame edge. Before you paint, wash the surface with vinegar , (cannot believe I am saying to use that stuff) but it will etch the galvanizing so the paint will stick. Just be sure to do it in a well ventilated area as the fumes will get you quite sick.Helpful Reply

Woodbridge Environmental Tiptophouse.com on Nov 09, 2012not reluctant to use it, but as you know it is used pretty much for everything. Mostly because people believe it is the cure all for everything including mold cleaning and it really does not work as well as one would like you to think. But as an acid it does etch galvanized steel quite well. :)Helpful Reply

KMS Woodworks on Nov 10, 2012you can find ready made white boards in many sizes...and for about the price you would spend to buy just the fancy paint. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001G60J4E/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_1/183-9617686-2937502?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_r=0GZEHQN7XEDWPFNP3MDA&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_p=486539851&pf_rd_i=B001XUPG8MHelpful Reply

3po3 on Nov 10, 2012Thanks Kevin. This whole thing now has me thinking about building an easel for my son. I think one side will be whiteboard, so I will have to figure out my options, but that is obviously a good one.Helpful Reply

Z on Nov 10, 2012Steve, if you're going to make your own you might want to use this one I found at Walmart for about the same price as the one at Amazon. It's flameless so you could easily add it to the easel you make for your son. If they don't carry it in your store they have free site to store shipping. http://www.walmart.com/ip/Wall-Pops-Dry-Erase-White-Board/9864744Helpful Reply
