I cannot change the carpet at the moment, so i'm looking for wall color ideas and ways to not draw attention to the carpet.

I would go with cream to tan walls as white or clashing colors would make the rose carpet stand out. Then I would go to Big Lots or other less expensive stores if budget is an issue and find large area rugs to put over the rose carpet. Your bed, dressers, etc. will cover large portions of the unwanted carpet and the throw rugs will help with the neutral walls taking over and helping to mask or blend in the rest. I hope this helps. Happy decorating.

Hi Theresa! As they say, "a rose is a rose is a rose." So instead of trying to hide it, why not embrace it? I am not sure what your furniture style is, but lots of creamy white walls and trim with an accent of green or gray can make that rose rug seem less obvious and more current. That color palette can work with shabby chic, french country, mid-century modern, etc. Find yourself the prettiest quilt, coverlet or comforter that you love and work within that palette. This one is from Target : http://www.target.com/p/simply-shabby-chic-garden-rose-quilt/-/A-14860380#prodSlot=medium_1_8&term=pink+bedding Quite inexpensive and you can design a room around it!

My mother hired someone to die pink carpet once. It worked beautifully, if you want to go darker. The professional should know what would work.

make it easy on yourself...carpet can be dyed...lime green was dyed to dark coffee brown, faded some in front of windows..but took 3 yrs, any carpet cleaning co., should be able to do it....this was in Dallas, Tx. 25 yrs. ago.... blinds were never closed as it was a second floor apt.
  • You can't hide it. I agree with Sue @ Country Home Designs,

I too agree with @Sue@CountryDesignHome. Rose is making somewhat of a comeback. This season Ikea has some nice accent pieces, toss cushions, etc. in rose and cream. They are the type of accessory that would look great with a rose carpet and the style of bedding suggested by Sue. Embrace it, everything comes around more than once. The eighties were not the first time rose made an appearance and it won't be the last.
