Need advice for curtains

Dolores Fowler on Feb 11, 2015What would look great would be if you have matching sheets you could make curtains by hanging them with drapery clips and sliding them onto a rod..no sewing. Or you could make a casing by just sewing a line across the top about an inch or so down and putting it on a curtain rod.Helpful Reply

Carol on Feb 11, 2015I once did some curtains for a young girl by using wide strips of chintz sewn together to make full and flowing curtains. You could find the right colors of the pink and green and alternate them to make panels. You could line them or not - it all depends on the look you want.Helpful Reply

Lucy Nunn on Feb 11, 2015It's BETTER to not have them match exactly. Since drapery is generally more permanent, I would pick a solid or very simple designed fabric for the window treatments. Maybe cream with a gray band?Helpful Reply

Gail on Feb 11, 2015I would go for a plain panel. Then I would find and pattern that matches the comfort and make a valance or scarf for window then make pillows for the bedHelpful Reply

Fab and Pretty on Feb 11, 2015You could go plain panel but it will be a bear to match the duvet tones for it to look 'right'. Since your walls will be grey, I would suggest a slightly lighter or darker tone of grey. Then keep that colour throughout the room with toss cushions and maybe 1 or 2 other accent elements. You could even try to find toss cushion fabric with all 3 (but not limited to) colours the green grey and flesh. This is the direction I would take to balance the 'busy-ness' of the cover, but that's just my opinion. or .... What you have is a stripe with geometric elements. You can try to find a true geometric (a square grid, triangles, polka dot, some type of a shape repeating pattern) You can also go with another type of a print, which may be fun. Think "boho" fun birds or flowers etc. Something else you might look for might be a batique although they can be expensive. They have a tie-dye feel to them.Helpful Reply

Kathy DeWispelare on Feb 11, 2015@Kristi Chittam -- I wonder how Roman shades made in the same fabric as the comforter with plain gray (darker gray than the walls) fabric panel on each side would look? You can make Roman shades very easily and inexpensively.Helpful Reply

Tillie Liukkonen on Sep 23, 2015IF the duvet is large enough to give up one end or side, you can cut off a strip of the duvet about 15" and sew up the cut ends and add a casing on the back to slide a rod through and hang. Whenever I find a sale on duvets, spreads or comforters, I buy the biggest size so I'll have enough fabric for a matching valance.Helpful Reply
