So cool, Elizabeth!. Adding onto that you could hinge a piece of board from the bottom, so when closed it offers it's own storage...and when opened it could be anything...yard, driveway, swimming pool, patio...anything

After the door enclosure, don't forget to add a suitcase handle on top for toting to Nana's......

Adding the drop down door is a great idea, I have also seen them with regular cabinet doors, the outside painted to look like a "bricktorian" house, with window boxes and ivy and even a mailbox. The inside looks great with some small patterned wall paper on the back of the bookcase, or painted with homey details if you have a talent for such things. If the back of the case can be removed, mark each "room", then remove the back and paint/paper it before replacing. Drilling a few holes in the back will also allow you to light your home with a strand of holiday lights, just make sure the holes are large enough to push your light thru from the back, then secure the cord with electricians tape so they stay where you put them. Paint faux windows, hang curtains or drapes on them, and put a light in every window to make the house warm and welcoming. :)
A doll house done this way, made from about a 3x4' shelf, sold for hundreds of dollars at a local antiques and oddities shop... it wasn't even furnished!
